Makeup Do’s and Don’ts for the Big Day

Makeup Do's and Don'ts for the Big Day

There are many things that can wreak havoc at a wedding. We’ve watched enough movies to know what can go down. But your makeup should never be one of them! If the band doesn’t show up on time, it’s okay to be upset in your perfectly winged eyeliner and a beautiful wedding dress!

Let’s learn to go over the do’s and don’ts for your special day!

DON’T Be Cakey

Buy your makeup according to the weather. You don’t need an oily T-Zone in the summers, or a cakey foundation in winters. Develop a consistent skincare routine with cleansing, toning, and moisturising every day for at least one month before the wedding.

Choose a foundation (powder, stick, liquid, or mousse) based on your skin type and believe me, it will take care of everything else for you!

DO Invest in a Good Primer and Setting Spray

A primer sets your face to put on makeup seamlessly. The setting spray keeps everything in place and is sprayed on in the last step of the makeup process. Both these products are often looked over by brides but trust me these are game-changers!

DON’T Get a Facial ONE Day Before the Wedding

Get your facial at least a week before your big day. It takes some time for the skin to adjust to the chemical treatment. It may also open pores and make your skin red and sensitive. Don’t skip the facial. However, timing is the key here.

DO Try Fake Lashes

Fake lashes add an oomph factor and complete your whole makeup look. It’s your day and you may do a little extra to tweak your appearance for the wedding day. Even with minimal makeup, fake lashes bring in the magic and complete the package!

DON’T Forget Touch Ups Throughout the Day

No matter how perfect your makeup is, keep one bridesmaid on the touch-up duty. Sometimes a little smudge of lipstick here and a touch up of face powder there is all you need to bring back the freshness.

Bonus Tip: Look out for lipstick on teeth in all cases. Do the finger-in-mouth technique to clean up any extra product around the inside of the mouth that may get stuck on your lips.

DO Get Water-Proof Makeup

Investing in water-proof makeup is always a good idea, especially mascara. You may get teary-eyed through the day, and the last thing you’d want to worry about is smudgy mascara!

Remember to keep it light, natural and fresh-looking. Learn the techniques beforehand and know your face to have the idea of which look would suit you more and go with your bridal gown.

I wish you all the luck in the world for your special day!
